Professional thermo-hygrometer KLIMALOGG PRO

The KLIMALOGG PRO and compatible transmitters monitor temperature and humidity values. The determined values can be recorded over longer periods of time and can be used to create prescribed test reports.
The application areas for the KLIMALOGG PRO are manifold:

  • To determine the causes of damp or risk of mould in living spaces based on recorded climate values
  • Monitoring of sensitive works of art and historical exhibits in galleries and museums
  • Climate control of server rooms
  • Storage of food
  • Preservation of medicines and blood products in pharmacies, hospitals and laboratories
  • Growing plants in nurseries and greenhouses

Up to 50,000 records can be saved. With the KLIMALOGG PRO software, it’s possible to create clear diagrams after data transmission via USB or simply to document the data.

FAQ KLIMALOGG PRO

Here you will find quick help on the frequently asked questions about the KLIMALOGG PRO and the associated software.

Transmitter

Please restart the channels and start the manual search.

When you put transmitters into operation, there’s a time window of 3 hours from the time of battery insertion for the transmitters to be found by the station. Please restart the transmitters before triggering the manual search.

You can use the PC software to label individual transmitters during an active connection. In the software, select the tab for the desired channel and then the button “Edit transmitter settings …”

Battery replacement

Alarm settings or already learned stations are not lost with a regular battery change.

If you find your KLIMALOGG PRO is already inactive, it may cause malfunction or loss of settings.

Please change the batteries as soon as the device displays the battery symbol RX between the time and date display.
To avoid malfunctions and to preserve the stored settings, pay attention to the appearance of the battery symbol and then perform a scheduled and proper battery replacement.

This usually happens if you don’t change the batteries in time.

Data and records

Our PC software has no printing function. However, the software offers different export functions to evaluate, process or even print the data with suitable software such as MS-Excel, OpenOffice Calc.

Timestamp = date and time of the respective data record
TI = temperature indoor = temperature inside (temperature value of the base unit)
RHI = relative humidity indoor = indoor relative humidity (air humidity value of the base unit)
DEWI = dewpoint indoor = dew point indoor (dew point value of the base unit)
T1 = temperature channel 1 = temperature of the transmitter on channel 1
RH1 = relative humidity channel 1 = relative humidity of the transmitter on channel 1
DEW1 = dewpoint channel 1 = dew point of the transmitter on channel 1
etc.

Due to incorrect use, it is possible that the complete memory contents are always read out and not just the latest data records.

Please note regarding the PC connection, that a distinction has to be made between “synchronizing” and “contacting”.

“Synchronize” = make hardware known to each other (required once)
“Contact” = establish wireless contact to transfer new data.
A comprehensive description of the PC connection can also be found in the instruction manual.

The device may have received a corrupted signal during the DCF signal daily update. If the time is in the middle of the night, this confirms the suspicion.

Correct the date on the records manually on the settings menu or wait until the next day. The device should receive the DCF signal at night again and correct the date automatically.

If the device has problems with the reception of the DCF signal frequently, it would be advisable to deactivate the DCF reception in the set menu and to operate the logger only with manual setting for time and date.

In this case, there may be an abnormality in the memory. The cause may be uncontrolled deactivation or incorrect use.
Synchronizing multiple times, for example, could be a trigger. In this regard, please note the difference between “synchronize” (hold USB button for a long time) and “contact” (short press USB button), as described in the instruction manual.

To avoid this, you should first go on to “Logger”> “Settings …”> “Import History …” to let the software see through the entire memory again.

If only the transmission has been interrupted, the problem may already be resolved in this way. If the transmission continues to break at the same point, this indicates an irregularity in the memory.

Another option to check for irregularities is to access the history mode directly on the device. With the “HIST” key, you can manually go through the data records from the current position towards the past and detect memory errors.

An irregularity in the memory can only be corrected by a main reset. You can reset your device to factory settings as described in the instruction manual.

It’s possible to transfer an existing history file to another PC before starting it for the first time using the following path:
Please note: This description is suitable for logger channel 1!

  1. Search for the two files “0_history.dat” and “0_alarmevent.dat” on the old PC / installation using the search command “% appdata%” in Windows Explorer and create one copy at a time
  2. Install software on the new PC
  3. After installing the software, but before the first start also by means of search command “% appdata%” open the folder and insert the two files
  4. Then start the software and perform the synchronization process on channel 1 – done.

Error messages

The notification “48” is information about the firmware version. This is generally displayed briefly during commissioning of the device (1 second). This is usually done together with the battery symbol “RX”.

The batteries in the device may be too weak. We recommend a battery change.

If the device doesn’t start up correctly and freezes on the firmware version info – despite a proper restart with new 1.5V batteries – a defect is likely to be the root cause. In this case, please contact TFA Customer Service for further advice.

In this case, the Windows service, which starts together with the KLIMALOGG PRO software, has been suspended. When you exit the software, the Windows service also stops.

The KLIMALOGG PRO PC software basically consists of two parts: the FrontEnd software (which gets displayed to the user and he/she operates) and a Windows service (which automatically starts when launching the FrontEnd software and it’s responsible for the communication between Logger, USB Stick and front-end software).

To solve this problem, manually start or stop the KLIMALOGG PRO Windows service – if you know how to do it – or check if someone else can help you here.

We recommend performing an advanced reinstallation of the program and then restarting the software. Please perform the following steps:
1. Uninstall KlimaLogg Pro

2. Open the Windows Explorer, type % ALLUSERSPROFILE% in the address bar and press enter. Delete all files displayed in the directory that start with KlimaLogg.
