The topic of sustainability plays a major role at TFA Dostmann. We are happy to provide you with information about how to recycle your packaging, old devices, batteries and rechargeable batteries.
You can find all the information on how to dispose of these items in your country here:
GERMANY
Disposal of packaging
Dispose of your packaging in an environmentally friendly manner using the collection systems provided.
Disposal of used electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries
Used electrical equipment, batteries and rechargeable batteries must never be thrown directly into your waste. They contain harmful substances that can damage the environment and health if disposed of improperly, but also valuable metals and other materials that can be reused.
As a consumer, you are required by law to dispose of used batteries and old equipment separately at appropriate collection points so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and recycled to a high standard.
Disposal of an electrical device
The device is marked with this symbol in accordance with the EU Directive on the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The crossed-out dustbin indicates that old devices must not be disposed of with household waste.
The consumer is obliged to take the old device to a designated collection point for the disposal of electrical and electronic devices for environmentally friendly disposal. This is, for example, a local disposal or recycling centre.
Returns are free of charge. Please observe the prevailing regulations.
Do not remove integrated batteries and rechargeable batteries from your device and dispose of them separately.
Disposal of batteries
Batteries and rechargeable batteries must never be disposed of with household waste either. As a consumer, you are required by law to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries to retailers or appropriate collection points for environmentally-sound disposal in accordance with national or local regulations. Returns are free of charge. You can obtain addresses of suitable collection points from your town or local authority.
The designations for pollutants they contain are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury and Pb=lead.
Reduce the generation of waste from batteries by using batteries with a longer life or suitable rechargeable batteries. Avoid littering the environment and do not carelessly leave batteries or electrical and electronic equipment containing batteries unattended. The separate collection and processing of batteries and rechargeable batteries make an important contribution to relieving the environment and avoiding health hazards.
Lithium-containing batteries and rechargeable batteries can even cause fires if handled incorrectly. If your product is fitted with a lithium-containing rechargeable battery or ordinary lithium-containing batteries, please pay particular attention to the following advice:
WARNING! Danger of explosion with lithium-containing batteries
With old lithium batteries and rechargeable batteries (Li = lithium), there is a high risk of fire and explosion due to heat or mechanical damage with potentially serious consequences for people and the environment. Pay special attention to their proper disposal.
Attention! Risk of injury: Risk of explosion and fire from lithium batteries due to heat or mechanical damage!
Protect from high temperatures. Do not throw them into fire, short circuit them or take them apart. If a device becomes hot while charging or if the battery no longer charges, this is a sign of a defect. Disconnect the device from its charging power source immediately.
A rechargeable battery cannot and must not be replaced or removed by the user. Improper replacement of the battery may risk an explosion. A qualified professional can, on request, obtain instructions on how to remove a permanently installed rechargeable battery at info@tfa-dostmann.de if this is necessary for the purpose of repairing or recycling the product.
FRANCE
Triman logo for packaging
The “Triman” logo is a standardised product label in France that informs consumers whether packaging is recyclable, subject to extended producer responsibility and collected separately.
With the help of this logo, French consumers should be able to recognise how to dispose of their packaging correctly. Products with this symbol belong in the recycling or waste paper bin.
Triman logo for electrical appliances and batteries
A special labelling obligation also applies to electrical appliances and batteries in France to inform consumers about the separate collection and possible drop-off points for electronic devices, their batteries or rechargeable batteries and other components.
