Most refrigerators are almost "undercooled" with settings between 5-6°C.
Yet the right temperature keeps food in the fridge and freezer compartment fresh for longer and saves precious energy: Just one degree more can save you up to 6% electricity.
However, you cannot always rely on the values displayed by the refrigerator, provided your model has a temperature display. Deviations tend to be the norm here, depending on the type of appliance, age and manufacturer. An analogue fridge thermometer shows you how your food is doing in terms of temperature.
We have designed this practical kitchen aid in-house and developed it for your refrigerator: Its pleasant colour combination of magenta and green shows whether everything is really in the green temperature range.
The thermometer is ready for use not only in the fridge, but also in freezers. It measures temperatures from -40°C to +30°C.
The smiley shows you the ideal temperature range for your refrigerator. The stars symbolise the appropriate values for the freezing range.
Its unusual appearance stands out from many other thermometers. But it is not the only thing that is remarkable. Its stainless steel material and easy handling are worth a second look:
Simply position, hang or stick the device with its holder in the middle of the fridge or freezer in a clearly visible place and turn the scale to the right position. If the correct symbol is displayed, your appliance is optimally set. With an overall size of around 7 cm, this device does not take up much space and is easy to read for a quick temperature check.
P.S. The ideal temperature for your freezer or freezer compartment – both in terms of energy efficiency and food cooling – is -18°C.
