Sustainability is a topic that has become increasingly important in recent years. It is about conserving resources, protecting the environment and promoting the sustainable development of the global community. This entails not only ecological, but also social and economic aspects.

In 1987, the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development defined sustainability as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

We, at TFA Dostmann, are also committed to sustainable and responsible corporate governance in order to counteract the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation and to create a liveable future for all.

We take responsibility – Our sustainable commitment

As a family business with almost sixty years of tradition in a rural environment, our ecological, economic and social commitment is particularly close to our hearts. Therefore, we go beyond legal requirements on a voluntary basis to practically implement sustainability in our company.
This includes sticking with our production site in Wertheim, an employee-friendly corporate culture, long-term and fair partnerships with our suppliers and a continuous reduction of our ecological footprint, for example by installing a photovoltaic system.

Ecological commitment at TFA

In addition to using renewable energy sources, the company has set itself the goal of avoiding waste and pollutants and conserving resources in production.

TFA has long been committed to raising customer awareness of ecological issues. This includes offering more sustainable products. Saving thermal energy through temperature control and, thereby, a more conscious use of resources is also an important concern for us.

Renewable energies at TFA Dostmann

By using renewable energies, we want to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Therefore, the roofs of the production and parts of the office building have a photovoltaic system. This enables us to cover about 40% of the electricity consumption at our site in Reicholzheim. As a new project, the logistics centre at Reinhardshof will also have a PV system in the future.

TFA Dostmann also sets a positive example when it comes to heating our production and office buildings. We rely on the constant temperature of groundwater as a renewable energy source with the help of a water-to-water heat pump. This allows us to heat and cool our company efficiently.

Avoiding waste and pollutants

Since 2017, we have been reducing our plastic packaging and switching to paper packaging material. TFA packaging should be designed to be as inexpensive, material-saving and recycling-friendly as possible.

An example we are very proud of: With the CLOCK-IN-THE-BOX wall clock, we have managed to pack a 400mm diameter wall clock into a 120mm wide box in a space-saving way.
When selecting our suppliers, we not only pay attention to price, but also to compliance with ecological standards and the avoidance of toxic and harmful substances. In this way, we contribute to the promotion of a liveable environment.

Sustainable products from TFA

TFA is increasingly focusing on products in its portfolio that take various sustainability aspects into account. These include the use of recycled materials, the energy efficiency of the products, durability and the possibility of repair and recycling.

Made in Germany

The majority of our analogue measuring instruments are manufactured directly at our site in Reicholzheim. This creates jobs in our region and helps reduce CO2 emissions by shortening transport routes to our customers. When selecting our raw materials, we focus on short delivery routes and regional suppliers.
